A1Planting Service
Quality planting by Mike & Traci (well, mainly Mike & crew) in the Eastern Triangle Area.
"Planted" price includes:
  • Walk your property.
We will take time to discuss your wants and needs. Tell us what to plant or we can offer suggestions.
    Outside area, add mileage fee.
  • Design with the right plants.
    We pick a
ttractive, functional, low maintenance plants that deliver year after year. Our goal is to shelter and show-off your property, without ever looking "overgrown".
  • Acquire plants of all sizes.
    Select from
Trees & Shrubs, Flowers & other local nurseries. Search 1200+ online at Taylor's, Adcock's and Pender's nurseries. We can also install customer-supplied plants.
  • Rearrange upon arrival, if desired.
Just getting the plants to site tends to bring on new ideas. We welcome your changes to the final plant layout.
  • Transport plants safely on site.
Heavy-duty carts tread easily across your landscape. Easy on the lawn.
  • Dig hole carefully.
We use an auger, picks, & shovels to sculpt out a proper hole: sized to promote strength, drainage and rooting.
  • Plant with a storm-resistant method.
Portions of soil surrounding top-heavy plants may remain undisturbed to "clamp" the rootball firmly. The entire tree is stronger when the base is secured in place.
  • Add quality ammended soil.
We use a lot of landscaper's soil for every planting. We are careful to leave no air-gaps underground.
  • Add Terra-Sorb Hydrogel.
Product expands up to 200 times it's weight during watering, then slowly releases the water back into the soil. Lasts up to 5 years and breaks down into a fertilizer, not a salt.
  • Add Agri-Tab Fertilizer.
Slow-release plant tabs last about 2 years as they are broken down by bacteria. Fertilization not needed for 2 years (it's OK if you want to add more).
  • Add more soil to build tree ring.
    Elevated
soil structure retains mulch, gives roots lots of high quality soil to grow in, protects against flooding, and allows for settling.
  • Spread 3"-4" leaf mulch on plants.
Leaf mulch is optimum for the health of your plants. It breathes well, retains moisture best, breaks down with less acidity, and becomes soil over time.
  • Warranty.
    2-year A1Planting Warranty
, covering 100% of replacement cost.

    Just add water

Watering is required (watch the rain):
    1" per week when hot.

EXTRAS
(not included with A1Planting)

Drip Irrigation
Volume Discount applies.
Low pressure tubing system, buried under the mulch, with small emitters placed adjacent to each plant.

Add up the following for a system cost:
$5 per plant (2 emitters/plant).
$1 per foot of distribution tubing.
- Includes tubing splitters & endcaps.
$95 per hose end connection, installed:
- Hose spigot 1-into-2 splitter.
- Water pressure requlator.
- Backflow preventer.
- Hose to tubing adapter.

System best installed concurrently with planting job, under mulch.
Drip irrigation is effective, but not perfect. Regular dousings by rain or hose are very good.

Weedblock
Volume Discount applies.
$.55 per square foot.
Top quality Dupont weedblock cut & placed around new plantings before the mulch is spread. Inhibits weeds from emerging out of the soil.

Weedblock is not a perfect method. Weeds may emerge from the edges, and from the leaf mulch itself, which is a good growing medium.

Perimeter Trenching
Volume Discount applies.
12" wide: $3 per lineal foot.
7" wide: $2 per lineal foot.
2" deep trench dug around the plants to define the grass/mulch boundary. Grass will be dug out and removed from site.

Typical trench lengths around one plant:
3 gallon: 12 feet
10 gallon: 15 feet
B&B: 20 feet

Tree Staking
Volume Discount applies.
$30-$60 per planting, our plantings only.
Our planting method mitigates this need, so we discourage this practice. Only the strongest acts of God tend to bring harm.

Even without staking, for 2 years, we will repair or stake any of our plantings that tip due to wind speeds up to 60 miles per hour for no charge.

It is preferable in the long run for a tree to sway in the breeze. This constant "flexing" allows the trunk to develop stronger, like a muscle, so the tree can withstand future high winds, ice and snow. Unstaked trees develop greater caliper, a larger root system, and healthier, undamaged trunks.
